Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony

Today, 1 Dec 2018 the Texas Commandery conducted our annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony aboard the Battleship Texas.

CDR Bryan Lethcoe, USN (Ret), Commander of the TCNOUS served as Master of Ceremony. Participants included the Patriot Guard Riders, Sea Scouts, USMC Honor Rifle Squad, Band of the Southeast, and the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. A five plane flyover prior to the ceremony was conducted by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). Later during the ceremony a CAF B-25 conducted a fly by.

Guest speaker was Richard J. Stoll, Ph.D, Albert Thomas Professor of Political Science at Rice University. Dr. Stoll spoke of the role of U.S. Naval Intelligence in winning the war in the Pacific.

The Companions of the Texas Commandery will hold our annual Pearl Harbor Commemoration Ceremony onboard the Battleship TEXAS at 11:00 AM, 1 December 2018.
 
Other ceremony participants will be the Naval Sea Cadets, the Community Band of Southeast Texas, Sea Scouts, Civil Air Patrol Cadets, the South East Texas Patriot Guard Riders, and a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard for a gun salute.

Immediately after the Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony on board the USS Texas, you are invited to join others for a no-host lunch at the Monument Inn, just a mile from the Battleship TEXAS adjacent to the Lynchburg Ferry landing. We will have a private dining area so that attending Companions will have an opportunity to meet, greet, and visit. There is limited seating for about 40 folks on a first come-first serve basis. As in previous years the lunch will consist of the following items:

All-You-Can-Eat. Family-style seafood extravaganza that consists of:

Cold Boiled Shrimp, Oysters on the half-shell, Fried Catfish, Fried Oysters, Fried Shrimp, Stuffed Crabs. With sides. $55.00

Lynchburg Dinner Package. There is an alternate specific menu. Entrée choices include tea/coffee & dessert plus (Only one selection): 

Chicken Breast w/Sautéed Onions, Mushrooms and Red Wine Sauce

 OR

Grilled 10 oz Rib Eye Steak, dinner salad, baked potato & roll.

Lunch reservations will NOT be made without prior payment. There is no at-the-door payment. Phone call or email reservations will not be accepted. Any reservations received after we reach the maximum number will be returned with regrets. The cutoff date for canceling after paying is November 29 after which there will be no refunds.  

This is a great opportunity to support your Commandery and honor the heroes that survived as well as those that lost their lives.
